mrichadquinn brings up several points regarding my strange events and postulates some others. My response is as follows.
1. Trouble, and we would have more states.
2. No.
3. It was his wife. He may have known it was coming, but was unable to stop it.

Re: mrichardquinn's event list.
1. Not so strange, just sad.
2. Foolish, but with Otto running the show and the Kaiser as a character in Otto's gamesmanship, Willhelm would never achieve the personal and military glory he craved and believed he had an entitlement to. This was a pretty bad idea, in hindsight, but not totally strange. Maybe kinda strange.
3. Iran-Contra is strange, and I'm not sure why this didn't ruin more careers, put guys in jail, and hurt R.R.'s reputation as a president, or ruin G.H.W. Bush's election in 88. This was not a Nixon in China situation, but a deal with terrorists to free hostages. History still will judge the participants harshly I believe. Why wasn't it an even bigger deal? How come no-one brings this or 'October Suprise' up anymore? I am not suggesting conspiracy, I have very little tolerance for that kind of thinking. Americans have short memories, and I just think that it is strange.

Please give me more strange events.

In response to mrichardquinn's response to my response to his response to my points.

1. I know very little about the Zimmerman Telegram. Who was Zimmerman, and is there any relation to any other Zimmermans?
2. Yes, Machiavelli probably was very familiar with Greek history, but he was more influenced by the reforms of Solon and the other tyrants and the utopias of Aristotle and Plato, and the varied Roman Emperors than the madness of Peracles's nephew. He also learned bread and circuses from Juvenal.(BTW - Clown Car is about that concept. Sometimes.)
3. Those Macedonians!

Regarding mrrichardquinn's response to my response to his points.

1. Not so strange I still say. Sad as in pathetic. Different power sources saw their chance and took it. Bush v. Gore was much stranger. Was anyone suprized?
2. Ok, It is kinda strange, and stupid, but still not as hard to imagine as the Zimmerman Telegram.
3. Yes, I am.
